Thanks so much for helping
us design and create our

enjoyed ourselves and where
delighted by the result and the

Yvonne Fuchs – Animateur

I love to work in all sorts of communities, here is my most recent one.

“In March 2010 Yvonne joined 37 other Bobby Moore Fund volunteers to rebuild a school in a South African township. This would include new classrooms, lavatories, repairs and laying down of sports facilities. All the sponsorship money raised by the participants to undertake this project was ringfenced by Cancer Research UK to be spent on dedicated bowel cancer research in my late husband's memory.

The desolate school sat in a dust bowl, neglected and uncared for. It was barren of colour. Yvonne set to and involving us all at different times organised the school children to create a massive children's mural on the main school wall. The impact this had on both the team and the children, bringing fun and laughter, a sense of ownership and pride was marvellous to see.

As we drove away from the school we took a last look back at the school and what stood out was our wall of colour expressing the children's welcome song full of hope and expectation to us when we first arrived.

I have taken Yvonne's inspirational theme and hope to use it in future Bobby Moore Fund school rebuilds in third world countries.”
